There have been at least three or four strong magnitude global earthquakes (Aleutian Islands, Iran, China) occurring during the past 72 hours…
Editor's Notebook: The deadliest earthquake was located in Northwest Iran
where at least 150 casualties were reported by the news media. Coincidentally there was an M1.0 Class X-ray Solar Flare which erupted from NOAA Active Region 1540 with a Peak flux measurement approximately three minutes earlier than a Magnitude 6.4 seismic event's origin time, which was at 12:23 UT on August 11, 2012.
PRESTO FROM SIDC – RWC BELGIUM Sun Aug 12 2012, 1237 UT
Due to decreased X-ray background flux and decay of the NOAA AR 1540 (that produced an M1.0 flare yesterday), we expect flaring activity only at the C-class level, most probably from NOAA ARs 1542 and 1544.
The Earth is currently inside a slow (around 350 km/s) solar wind flow with average (5-6 nT) interplanetary magnetic field magnitude. We expect quiet geomagnetic conditions.
